THANK YOU

To our friends, customers, and partners -

Thank you all for your support of our little experiment over the past seven years. This is the post I had hoped to never write. The time has come for us to call it a day, regroup, lick our wounds, and move on to what comes next.

We had grand plans to make a new, sustainable type of homebrewing supply - one that could be a nexus for local brewers and also serve those who were a little outside of a comfortable drive to our shop and feel connected. We needed to build a business that could support our families and be a model to help get more shops open in small markets again. We've lost so many shops in the past few years and the hobby's weakness reflects that. We need shops to support clubs and homebrewers. This is a social hobby and people need to share space with people to nerd out and experience their passion with their community. Shops fill a vital role in this. If we can get more shops to open than close then we may make homebrewing a robust and exciting hobby again.

I will cherish the conversations and beers (good, bad, and other) and am sorry I couldn't keep this going with all the challenges our hobby and small businesses everywhere are facing. I wanted both a robust eCommerce presence with a storefront to support our local brewers and create a space or connection and education. I'm proud of what we did, even if it fell short of the ultimate goal.

It's not all bad news though - our sister shop, Asheville Brewers Supply will go on. I'll be working on the online store over there to create a better shopping experience once we've wrapped up the loose ends from closing down this store. We had hoped to combine the two businesses, but a path never materialized.

Please stop by if you find yourselves in Asheville for HomebrewCon in June. We're less than 2 miles from the venue.

We're so grateful for you and hope you'll continue to inspire and create. Thank you for trusting us these past 7 years.

Keep your kettles full, and take care of each other.

Cheers,
JW

P.S. I hope you'll keep in touch. The shop email is orderbot[at]brewsrq.com and will be working for as long as this page is up.
