Origin: Waimea™ is a dual purpose hop that is well-suited for big, heavy-handed brews. It was developed by The New Zealand Institute for Plant & Food Research.
Usage: Because of the high Alpha Acids, Waimea works well as a bittering hop for big IPAs and other hop-forward styles but will contribute to aroma and flavor in late additions.
Aroma & Flavor Characteristics: Waimea's aroma and flavor is a pleasant balance of fresh citrus and resinous pine. Aromas of tangerine, grapefruit, and pomelo can be achieved through dry-hopping and whirlpool additions.
Alpha Acid: 16-19%
Beta Acid: 7-9%
